About the book: I started compiling this list of truisms in my early years of high school. Some of them are actually written by me but the vast majority has been collected from other readings and experiences I've had throughout my life. This is almost a diary of a sense. Every entry that was actually written by me was a stage in my development, a flash of intuition or a major event in my life. When my life is in trouble or I'm faced with a major decision I often return to this little tome of knowledge and look for one of the entries to speak to me. It's been a guiding light in some of my darkest hours. Of course, I owe a special thanks to God, Allah, Buddha, The Goddess, whatever you want to call him/her/it, for being there with me through thick and thin as well. That great spirit has ALWAYS been there to guide me. If you listen to your heart it'll be there to guide you as well. Glean from this work what you can. Hopefully it will mean as much to you as it does to me. It's been a great experience compiling everything and keeping it updated.

The course of history shows that as government grows liberty decreases. -Thomas Jefferson You and you alone are the only one responsible for your personal safety and security and that of your family and loved ones. To shirk that responsibility creates a nation of cowards reliant upon the outside authority of "professionals" who cannot be with you 24/7 and who have no legal responsibilty to protect you as an individual. Furthermore, laying down arms and placing the responsibilty of your and your loved ones security on a "higher authority" is the first giant leap toward tyranny. "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf" The enemy one kills in war may be a splendid; brave, clean, reverent, truthful and so on. But a predatory felon who victimizes innocent non-combatants on the street is a proven goblin, sentenced by his own initiative. You do not kill the goblin. He has chosen his own death by virtue of his own actions. If you don't intend to win, don't fight. But, if you choose to fight, make winning your exclusive objective until the fight is over. You probably should turn denfense into offence if the oportunity presents itself after the opening of hostilities. (Merddyn - the intent of your assailant is already proven.) It is obvious that awareness, the by-product of alertness, is the first principle of any sort of fighting, and especially so in the case of the man alone. The way to win is to know that there is going to be a fight before it happens. Once you know that, "your strength is as the strength of ten" because you can dictate the conditions of the conflict. If you don't know you're in trouble, no amount of ability on your part will save you. (Merddyn: Therefore alertness is even more critical than ability.) It is important to note that numbers do not necessarily mean bodies. One well-situated rifleman - alert, skillful and determined - can be the equivalent of a dozen or more untrained, sketchily armed, or badly disciplined assailants. In small unit tactics sheer surprise may totally invert numerical superiority Then if one day evil does at last arrive you will remember the watchwords - Initiative, Surprise, SPEED. You'll have a better chance than most. Since most people respond to hypothetcial with the assumption that it will not come to them, the first step in adjusting to your present social situation is the hard, clear, unflinching understanding that it can indeed come to us - personally. It is amazing to read people that did not choose to believe this until after they have been victimized. They all knew that burglary, robbery, assault and murder were not only possible, but frequent, but they took no precautions, but they took no precautions because they simpley would not admit that they, themselves, could be the victim. The police cannot protect you in your home. If goblins break in upon you the police should be called - as soon as you get around to it - in order to write out reports and clean up the mess. But the goblins are your problem. Bear that always in mind. The stranger at your door must be considered a possible target until otherwise proven. And this is not fear, much less the popularly misused term "paranoia." This is intellegent caution. A ghost is nothing more than a person wrapped in a sausage. There is nothing "supernatural" about it and absolutely nothing to be feared more than any other person. We, as a civilization, simply have the wrong concept of who and what we are. You are the thoughts, the memories, the soul within, which exists entirely upon it's own merit and is essentially eternal. Your natural state of being is as a spirit, not as a sausage. You are not your meat-sack. Come to understand this and you will see the world as it truly is. Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. -Dr. Seuss I tell myself I will not go even as I drive there. I Stood, Time is the moving image of Reality. Did you think the lion was sleeping simply because he did not roar? Oftentimes, to win us to harm, What is the worst of woes that wait on age? You and your opponent are one. there is a coexisting relationship between you. you become his compliment. Absorbing his attacks and using his force to overcome him. It is better to have less thunder in the mouth and more lightning in the hand. What of fidelity and loyalty? Complete trust? Faith is not granted by tangible proof. It comes from the heart and soul. If a person needs proof of God's Existence, then the very notion of spirituality is diminished into sensuality and we have reduced what is holy into what is logical. "Mother is the name of God on the lips and hearts of all children." Faith is a path of persuasion not force. Why is it that those who have their eyes are often truly blind while those that are blind can often truly see? Love should be blind but not deaf and dumb as well. Power of the mind is infinite while brawn in limited. Flow with whatever may happen and let your mind be free. Stay focused by accepting whatever you are doing. Control your emotions or they will control you. Remember, when one eye is fixed on the destination there is only one eye left to find the way. Faith is seeing a rainbow in each tear. I can see how it might be possible to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how one could look into the heavens and say there is no God. It is better to suffer wrong than to do it, and happier still sometimes to be cheated than not to trust. If anyone speaks badly of you live so none will believe it. Worry is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged it will cut a channel into which all other thoughts are drained. Don't be sad about the things you want and don't get. Think how many things you don't want and don't get. An apology is a good way to have the last word. Don't pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Sometimes you can make a more efficient statement by holding your tongue. Speak kind words only and you will only hear kind echoes. It is possible to give without loving but not to love without giving. Don't worry about opposition. Remember a kite rises against the wind not with it. Remember not only to say the right things at the right time but also to leave unsaid the wrong things at the tempting moment. In acceptance there is peace. Sometimes we are blind because of or foresight. Our eyes are mirrors to our souls and our bodies reflect our mortal desires, defects and fears. Timing is an essential element often neglected in social situations. There are two rules to apply to life. Infinite flexibility is the secret to immortality. The only thing that should never change is the fact that you should always change with life. "Go with the flow." Lose your attachment to the defense of your point of view. Then there is nothing to attack. When we are completely established in non-violence then all beings around us cease to feel hostility. A memory is a shadow of a former reality. Death is not a thing of terror but of naturality. Dwain's Rules: Sometimes the people we imagine as perfect are more flawed than ourselves. When everything is down remember "life will flow" and "life always finds a way." Tomorrow does come because today is yesterday's tomorrow. Student: Some things should not be questioned. It takes tolerance not to give in to death. To resist the temptation. How easy just to die. To keep on living an empty life takes patience from an empty person. I can defeat your physically without a reason but i can only defeat your mind with a reason. In an idealistic society all life that has not been tainted by the darkening powers of evil is beautiful. Beauty may not be apparent but hidden inside. The deeper beauty is hidden the more special and truly great is. Inner beauty is always superior to shallow appearance. Softness triumphs over hardness, feebleness over strength. What is more malleable is always superior over that which is immoveable. This is the principle of controlling things by going along with them, of mastery through adaptation. Fear is the mind killer. A common human reaction is to fear what you don't no understand. Avoid this and rise above the rest. How ironic that learning brings power. True learning brings wisdom and the knowledge to use power to a greater end. Finite players play within the boundaries while infinite players play WITH the boundaries. I can invade your dreams. Never explain, your friends don't need it and your enemies wouldn't believe you anyway. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about they neck; write them upon the table of they heart. All great things must first wear a terrifying and monstrous mask in order to inscribe themselves on the hearts of men. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man and he will love thee. Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man and he will increase in learning. Hatred sirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. He that hideth hatred with lying lips and he that uttereth a slander is a fool. To win 100 victories in 100 battles is not the highest skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill. Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox. I am eternal until God wills my life force out of existence. My body is irrelevant. All great truths begin as blasphemies. Go put your creed in your deed, You saw his weakness and he will never forgive you. That which does not kill us, makes us stronger. The child is the father of the man. "O! it is excellent When you have a goal, a purpose, an end in view, you have placed a limit upon the mind. The problem IS the answer. Understanding the problem dissolves it. Fear is the tax that conscience pays to guilt. None but a fool is always right. Passion makes the "will" lord of reason. Beware the fury of the patient man. The heart has reason that reason cannot understand. How can finite grasp infinity? We rarely like the virtues we have not. The first lesson of history is that evil is good. Fearless minds grow soonest unto crowns. Too low they build who build beneath the stars. Observe your enemies, for they first find your faults. The most deadly knife is the unseen one. Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. Those that are in error must sometimes be shown their fault with force because that is all some understand. We should be careful to get out of an experience the wisdom that is in it and stop there; lest we be like the cat who sits down on a hot stove lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove lid again and that is well, but she will never sit on a cold one anymore. If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principle difference between a dog and a man. It is a bad plan that admits of no moderation. Why is it, Marcenas, that no man living is content with the lot that either his choice has given him or that chance has thrown to him, but each has praise for those who follow other paths? Peace, Love and Happiness 3 things to be controlled above all else. 3 things deserving of admiration. 3 things avoided by the wise. Some things must be believed to be seen. Follow your conscience for it is the eye of God with you. Action Follows Thought The truth AGAINST the world. Conscience is the presence of God within the mind of man. Spiritual power comes from living in a sacred manner. A magician comes forth as such from his mother's womb. Those who assume the function will be unhappy. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. When asked what i want to do, what i want to be... There is no finite answer. I simply want to surpass my potential. One must: See all, Study all and Suffer all to reach beyond the cycle of rebirth. 3 things a man is: "Seek not to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought." Have you ever noticed that we don't pay attention to those who say they are wrong- only those that say they are right. How sad, what marvels we must have missed. To Know, To Dare, To Keep Silent. Ponder this, magic is simply undiscovered or unrecognized science and faith fuels magic. When we 'realize' something we are not simply noticing that which was always there. We are actually making-real that 'something'. It wasn't there before we perceived it. It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. The very essence of romance is uncertainty. Want in one hand and spit in the other, then see which one fills up the fastest. Evil is the stone on which the sword of Good is sharpened. Some things just look like rainstorms and turn out to be rainbows. When you're green you're growing. When you're ripe you rot. To 'be' is to 'will' and so is to 'become'. It is better to look ahead and prepare than to look back and regret. On man with courage makes a majority. Some men see things as they are and say 'Why?'. I dream of things that never were and say 'Why Not?'. In order to see Christianity one must forget almost all the Christians. Necessity has no law. Prayer = to ask that the rules of the universe be annulled in behalf of a petitioner confessedly unworthy. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. To do nothing sometimes is a good remedy. Everything in excess is opposed to nature. Good government never depends on the laws, but upon the personal qualities of those who govern. The machinery of government is always subordinate to the will of those who administer that machinery. The most important element of government therefore is the method of choosing the leaders. Free your mind, the rest will follow. When there is no wind, Row. All men betray, all men lose heart. I won't rain all the time and your tears won't fall forever. As within, So without. As above, So below. Emotions are like water, Sometimes going from a trickle to a roaring rapid and back again in a relatively minute span of time. Once you put your hand in the flame, it can never be the same. There is a certain satisfaction in a little bit of pain. Sometimes the shortest distance between two points is a good ass whoopin. Pray not for your desires but for patience to wait for them and for the right time. Aikido is not a fighting system but a method of restoring peace where peace is absent. My great grandfather was once bitten by a rattlesnake and after 3 days of INTENSE pain... Hope begins in the dark. The stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up. Walk into the eye of the hurricane and find peace. For me there is only the traveling on paths that have heart, on any path that has heart. There i travel, and the only worthwhile challenge is to transverse it's full length and there i travel looking, looking, breathlessly. "I am the Universe" Aikido is the loving protection of all things, including yourself. Just follow your heart son. You'll be fine. "O'Sensei believed in the old samurai adage that one must always try the utmost to avoid conflict, but if you cannot, then inflict pain before you injure, injure before you maim, maim before you kill, and if you must kill, squeeze every bit of life out of the attacker to the last drop. Make it a clean kill because life is so precious, it cannot be wasted, even in death." On love:"enjoy it... savor it like a fine wine... love with all your heart in every moment... and never regret that you loved because you did it with an open and honest heart." That government is best which governs least. You were wild once, don't let them tame you. When you get to know and appreciate someone, the dwelling that contains them becomes unimportant; you go to see your friends, not the lodges they live in. Fear leads to anger and anger leads to hatred and hatred leads to the dark side. Do or Do Not, there is no Try! Those who say it can't be done shouldn't stand in the way of those who are doing it It is not enough to conquer, you have to know how to seduce. Stolen sweets are best. According to my calculations... the problem doesn't exist. When you meet a master swordsman, There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so. It is not the same to talk of bulls as to be in the bullring. When an ordinary man attains knowledge, he is a sage; when a sage attains understanding, he is an ordinary man. You should study not only that you become a mother when your child is born, but also that you become a child.
Only when you no longer want for water will you truly be thirsty.
How many times will you watch the full moon rise ...... Perhaps twenty and yet it all seems limitless.

yeah, but i just wanted to say it with longer and more important sounding words.
It's ok to be mad at her. You dont have to feel guilty about that. There's nothing wrong with wanting what you want. Your core issues will be with you for the rest of your life. You will always struggle with them. You just have to take one day at a time.
