Synopsis: The class level will be geared toward individuals who are interested in mead and homemade wine making but have never attempted it on their own. Experienced mead makers may gain a few tips and tricks though. The first class will cover theory over the whole process of brewing mead and wine. We'll also start a batch of mead in the first session. By the date of the 2nd class the mead should be ready to bottle. We'll get together, sample the mead, teach everyone how to bottle, cork and label and everyone will get a bottle to take home.. Students are privy to specially priced home brewing kits through Defalco's (local brewing shop). Seating is very limited. We'll let the group vote on what recipe to make. my two favorites are Elderberry, Pumpkin Pie or we could do a new recipe I've been wanting to try out, Apple Pie. What you will learn: - Basic concepts of fermentation & brewing
- Basic equipment for home wine making
- Procedures and Tips/Tricks for brewing
- How to determine and control alcohol content
- Bottling & aging techniques
- Legality of home brewing
- ** Secret technique to dramatically speed up brewing from one year to 2 months
